Young Port Adelaide forward handed multi-game ban…

A high bump in the SANFL has seen a Power attacker suspended.

 

Port Adelaide forward Xavier Walsh has been handed a two-game suspension for a high bump during the opening round of the SANFL.

 

A fourth-quarter collision on Glenelg’s Riley Holder during last Friday’s clash at Stratarama Stadium has gained scrutiny of the league’s Match Review Panel, who have charged Walsh with rough conduct.

Walsh’s actions were graded as careless conduct, high contact and high impact, resulting in the two-game penalty.

 

That suspension will mean Walsh is unavailable for the next two AFL matches for the Power, who face Essendon and Fremantle over the next fortnight before a Round 6 meeting with reigning premiers Collingwood.

 

Walsh will also be unavailable for Port Adelaide’s’ upcoming SANFL games against West Adelaide and Woodville-West Torrens. With the SANFL scheduled for a bye this weekend, Walsh’s next available game for the Magpies won’t come until April 27 when Port Adelaide face Norwood at Alberton Oval.

 

 

Walsh’s teammate and fellow Power rookie Lachie Charleson was also charged by the SANFL’s MRP for a dangerous tackle on Tiger Cole Gerloff.

 

The MRP graded the incident as careless conduct, low impact and high contact, resulting in a $125 fine and a reprimand.
