**Summary:**

In a disappointing turn of events, the Vancouver Whitecaps faced their first defeat of the Major League Soccer season against Real Salt Lake. Despite initially taking the lead with midfielder Damir Kreilach’s goal, the Whitecaps faltered, conceding two second-half goals to Real Salt Lake.

This loss not only halted Vancouver’s chance of setting a club record for points in the first four games but also showcased a lack of intensity and cohesion within the team. Assistant coach Michael D’Agostino highlighted a deviation from the game plan as a contributing factor, emphasizing the need for the team to regroup and refocus during challenging moments. Despite captain Ryan Gauld’s milestone 100th appearance for Vancouver, the team’s performance fell short, resulting in their fourth-place position in the Western Conference standings.

With upcoming home games against Portland, Toronto, and the L.A. Galaxy, the Whitecaps aim to bounce back from this defeat and regain momentum in the league.
