Tennessee Vols are officially in a recruiting battle with Georgia Bulldogs for elite QB

The Tennessee Vols are officially in a recruiting battle with the Georgia Bulldogs for one of the nation’s top quarterbacks.

Tennessee already has their quarterback for the 2025 class — five-star quarterback George MacIntyre committed to the Vols earlier this year — which means their quarterback recruiting efforts are now focused on the 2026 class.

And four-star quarterback Faizon Brandon is one of the Vols’ top targets.

Brandon, 6-foot-4/175 lbs from Greensboro, NC, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 6 quarterback in the nation and the No. 6 player in the state of North Carolina.

The Greensboro native has visited Tennessee five times since last summer, including last fall for the Vols’ game against Georgia.

Speaking of Georgia, they’re officially in the mix for Brandon after this weekend.

The Bulldogs offered Brandon on Saturday during his recruiting visit to Athens.

“Georgia has been showing interest and the offer from them means a lot,” said Brandon to On3. “I watched them growing up and I like how Georgia has a standard of working hard and pushing yourself to be the best you can be.”

“This offer gives me a lot more interest in Georgia,” added Brandon.

Former Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker, who is also from Greensboro, has talked up the Vols in conversations with Brandon.

Georgia also has a strong presence in Greensboro, signing four-star defensive lineman Jamaal Jarrett out of Grimsley (where Brandon plays high school football) during the 2023 recruiting cycle. The Bulldogs are also pursuing one of Brandon’s teammates, 2025 four-star edge rusher Bryce Davis.

There’s obviously a long way to go in this recruiting battle. But if the Vols are going to bring Brandon to Rocky Top, they’ll have to score an off-the-field win against the Bulldogs.

That’s something Josh Heupel and his staff have accomplished recently (landing 2025 five-star wide receiver Mike Matthews over Georgia), so it’s not out of the question that the Vols could beat out Georgia for Brandon.

Former Vols player says he transferred from Tennessee because he ‘needed more’.
